Well, I've recently been treated to a preview of the next Franz Ferdinand single (it's GREAT!) so my mind has been reminded of just how much good music there is at the moment.
So, since I'm supposed to be, or wanting to be, in the radio world when I'm all big and grown up, I thought it was time I offered some opinions on the latest music that is adorning our ears at the moment.
If music adorns....I don't know.......ANYWAY!
FOO FIGHTERS: DOA
Of Course, DOA stands for Dead on Arrival, a term used in hospitals to call patients who are...err...would you believe dead before they arrive and therefore name-less. They may even be called John or Jane DOA (pronounced Doe) depending on what sex they are and how heartless the hospital staff are.
But all that is extronious information when we're talking about the Foo Fighters second single from their new Album "in your honour"
After the good, but nothing special "Best of You", which I WANTED to like because it was the Foo Fighters more than I actually did, it's great to see the Foo's back to their rockin' best on their second release.
Much more catchy and dance-able than last time out, this is a song that really grows on you, well ME anyway, I shouldn't speak for you!
My rating, 4 corpses out of 5!
THE WHITE STRIPES: MY DOORBELL
How good is this song?!!
Well, very good is the answer, even if I was being rhetorichal just there.
Strange for the White Stripes, as there's no big guitair riff to rock your socks off, just a thumping beat instead.....but that's what makes this song great!
That and Mr White's "unique" style of singing anyway.
One question though, this features jack on Piano, Meg on Drums, then myterious percussion from a third body........how are they going to do that one live then eh?
EHH?????????
My rating, 5 Doorbells out of 5!
(Just how long can Blogs be anyway.......oh well, lets find out by carrying on!)
NINE INCH NAILS: ONLY
Y'see, before the most recent Nine Inch Nails releases, I was a bit wary of this band.
Maybe it was all the ball mashing and tourtering videos that put me off, (lets face it, there's no maybe about it!) but I never got into them, for whatever reason.
But The hand that Feeds was without a doubt the single of the year so far, (until this crop of reviewed songs came out anyway) and they've followed it up with another great, powerful song.
I love it, although I have no illusions about the fact that because people like me are liking the current Album, hardcore Nine Inch Nails fans must hate it. But what are you gonna do, it's just music after all!
*Edit* Spiggin Journal, there was more here, but I guess I ran out of room! To wrap up without re-writing the five or so more paragraphs: QOTSA:In My Head, Good, no one likes the new weezer album but me, the new gorillaz single isn't very good, don't listen to me anyway, make your own minds up, and heck, the new franz ferdinand track is gonna be great! *sigh* I need about 5 more pages!
